by Friedrich Rückert (1788 - 1866)

Töricht, wer im Paradies kann wohnen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Töricht, wer im Paradies kann wohnen
Und will reisen gehn in andre Zonen.
Also töricht ging ich jüngst von dir.
Wollte seh'n, ob außer deiner Sphäre
Noch ein Wohnplatz mir auf Erden wäre;
Keinen fand ich und bin wieder hier.

Warum soll ich in der Irre schweifen,
Sehn, wie andern ihre Früchte reifen,
Fern der Au, wo meine Saaten steh'n?
Nimm dahin in Fesseln die Gedanken,
Laß mich ruhn in deiner Arme Schranken,
Meine Welt in deinen Augen seh'n!
