by Friedrich Leopold, Graf zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1750 - 1819)

Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Willkommen, frohe Nacht, die du
den schönsten Tag vollendest
und der Erinn'rung süße Ruh'
nach Taumelfreuden sendest.

Du reine Seele, die du mich
durch Engelskuss beglücktest
und mehr wie diese Stille mich
zu Gott hinauf entzücktest!

Ach Gott! Sie schlummert. Lass sie ganz
dein Wohlgefallen fühlen!
Lass es, wie Morgenwolkenglanz,
um ihre Seele spielen.

Singt, Engel, den Gesang ihr vor,
der ihr dereinst erschallet,
wann frei ihr Geist zu Gott empor
gleich Opferflammen wallet!

Zeigt mich in frommen Träumen ihr,
wie ich hier denkend knie,
dass immer ihre Seele mir
in reiner Liebe glühe.
