L'Heure

Le bruit irrégulier de notes égrenées,
La caresse des mains sur le clavier traînées
Avec un abandon indifférent et las ;
D’un vase de Chine à parois enluminées
Sur le tapis luisant d’étoffes satinées,
Choit la défleuraison de grappes de lilas ;
 
Et la pendule blanche et frêle en porcelaine
Qui bat dans l’ombre avec une douceur d’haleine
Laisse tomber ses coups, un à un, comme un glas ;
Et, dans le cœur lassé de sa recherche vaine,
S’éveille tristement la mémoire lointaine
De bonheurs disparus qui ne renaîtront pas.
