Translation by Karl August Förster (1784 - 1841)

Das Schwanenmädchen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Belarusian (Беларуская мова)
"Nie lieb' ich je dich heißer,"
Sprach ich zur Liebsten mein,
"Wirst du doch nimmer weißer,
Als jetzt, mein Mägdlein, sein."

Und ach!  am nächsten Morgen
Lag sie im weißen Kleid
In kleinem Sarg geborgen,
Die wundersüße Maid.

"Nun bist du dennoch weißer,
Viel weißer denn dein Schwan;
Nun lieb' ich doch dich heißer,
Als ich es je gethan."

Confirmed with Gedichte von Karl Förster, erster Theil, ed. by Ludwig Tieck, Leipzig: F. A. Brockhaus, 1843, page 364.
