Lehnt stumm die Nacht an die Scheiben,
Dann singt mir der Goldlaut durch Herz und Hirn,
Verschlingt die Gedanken von Firn zu Firn
Hinaus [in das]2 Weltentreiben,

[Und]3 trägt mich zu fremden Borden,
Wo Sterne im Reigen beisammen stehn.

El sonido

Canta en tono grave dentro de mí,
tan abrumador y tan profusamente áureo;
soy como un poderoso señor,
un rey con manto y corona.

Cuando la noche se apoya muda en los cristales,
me resuena el sonido áureo a través de corazón y cerebro;
engulle los pensamientos entre hielo y hielo,
hacia el acontecer del mundo.

Y me lleva a confines lejanos
donde las estrellas bailan juntas.
Mi corazón quiere estallar de felicidad,
