Gunhilds romance
Language: Danish (Dansk)
I spådomskløften ved fjeldsø bor
den mægtige bjergets frue,
hun lokker de unge med fagre ord –
ve den, som hende får skue!

Hun lover ham guld og elsket mø,
hvis han til Freja vil bede; –
men falske, som den slugende sø,
er hendes løfter om glæde.

Hun vil ham drage i dybet ned,
hvor gamle guder dvæle,
der hersker der ingen kærlighed,
ej fred for menneskers sjæle.

Thi råder jeg hver en svend og mø:
“Tro ikke de smilende vover!
Ro ikke over den blanke sø,
når månen skinner derover!

Thi dragende lyder da hendes sang,
da har hun magt at dåre;
og følger du bjergets lokkende klang,
du hvilte bedre på båre!”
