Ich schloß die Augen, und ich schlief Und träumte von dem Paradies Und hatte keine Sorgen. Oho! Da flog ein Goldfasan Dicht vor mir aus dem Reisfeld auf, - Und fort war alles Träumen. Es gibt ein Vieh, das hasse ich, Der Vogel nennt sich Goldfasan, Ist hämisch von Charakter. Jetzt lauf ich wütend in die Stadt, Will Bogen mir und Pfeil erstehn Und Goldfasanen schießen!

Met ritslen vloog de goudfazant Dicht vóor mij uit het rijstveld op, - Verstoorde wreed mijn sluimer. Het was het uur van middaggloed. In 't lommer van d' Aglajaboom Strekte ik mijn loome leden. Ik sloot mijn oogen en ik sliep En droomde van het Paradijs En wist van leed noch zorgen. En o daar vloog een goudfazant Dicht voor mij uit het rijstveld op, - Weg waren al mijn droomen. Er is een dier nu dat ik haat. Die vogel heet de goudfazant, Hij heeft een boos karakter. Nu ren ik woedend naar de stad, 'k Wil mij verschaffen pijl en boog En goudfazanten schieten.
