Will's im Herzen einsam bangen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
  Will's im Herzen einsam bangen,
Will sich's trüb' um's Auge ziehn,
Nur hinaus und frisch ergangen!
Labung weht aus laub'gem Grün.

  Traulich leise mag es sprechen
Was in all' den Wipfeln lebt,
In den Büschen an den Bächen,
Wo des Friedens Dämmer webt.

  All' die helle Sangesfreude,
Die das sonn'ge Grün durchklingt!
Und die stille Herzensweide,
Wenn der Mond in's Dunkel blinkt.

  Da, vom frischen Hauch umgossen,
Findet jedes Herz die Ruh;
Auf des Traumes luft'gen Sprossen
Steigen Engel ab und zu.

If there is a lonely trepidation in my...
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
  If there is a lonely trepidation in my heart,
If my eyes are drearily shrouded,
Only go out and walk briskly!
Refreshing comfort wafts from green foliage.

  Familiarly quiet it may speak
Of everything that lives in the treetops,
In the bushes along the brooks,
Where weaves the twilight of peace.

  All the bright joy of singing,
That sounds through the sunny greenery!
And the quiet in which the heart revels,
When the moon glimmers into the darkness.

  There, suffused by the fresh breeze,
Every heart finds peace;
Upon the airy rungs of a dream
Angels climb up and down.
