Je suis l'amant de la princesse Bandoline 
La seconde fille du Roi de Tartarie, 
Qui a quatre cens cuisiniers dans ses cuisines 
Et mille jumens blanches dans ses écuries. 

Sans prendre garde aux grimaçans dragons de bronze, 
Je me glisse à la nuit close dans son jardin, 
Tremblant quand mon manteau s'accroche à quelque ronce 
Ou que grince en s'ouvrant la porte de bois peint. 

J'évite que mon pas ne marque sur l'allée 
Et ne fasse crier auteur de lui le sable 
Car les gardes mongols endormis sur leur sabre 
Me couperaient le cou de leur lame effilée. 

Son kiosque en porcelaine est rond comme un miroir; 
Elle jonche de roses rouges notre couche; 
Je trouve un goût d'amande fraîche sur sa bouche 
Et l'odeur de la nuit röde en ses cheveux noirs. 

Hélas, pourquoi faut il qu'à l'annonce de l'aube 
Quand mes caresses savantes l'ont épuisée, 
Je m'esquive ainsi qu'un voleur et me dérobe 
A travers les buissons tout mouillés de rosée ?
