O lang may the ladies
Look frae the Castle down,
Ere they see the Earl of Murray
Come riding thro' the town.

Now wae be to ye, Huntley
And wharefore did ye sae?
I bade you to take him,
But forbade you him to slay.

He was a braw gallant
When he rode at the gluve;
O the bonnie Earl of Murray
He was the Queen's luve.
