Un jour, en passant, tu me pris mes yeux ;
Tout à mes regards se couvrit d’un voile,
Et sous le grand ciel lumineux,
Mes yeux n’eurent plus que toi pour étoile !

Un jour tu me pris toutes mes pensées,
Mes ambitions et me souvenances;
Mon esprit, cristal vibrant de pensées,
Pour toi seule alors eut ses résonnances !

Un jour tu me pris mon cœur tout entier,
Tous ses battements, ses larmes bénies.
Toi seule combla ce cœur tout entier,
Mes amours d’hier en furent bannies.

Un jour tu me pris mon âme immortelle,
Et tu l’emportas, aîle repliée.
Mon âme d’amour deux fois immortelle,
Mon âme à ton âme à jamais liée.

Ainsi, simplement, tu me pris un jour :
Âme, cœur, pensées et regards suprêmes,
Tu pris tout mon être, en passant, un jour.
Et je ne sais pas encor si tu m’aimes !

Un dia, tot passant, captivares els meus ulls;
tot el que hi havia davant el meu esguard es cobrí amb un vel,
i sota l'immens, lluminós cel,
els meus ulls no tenien cap altra estrella que tu!

Un dia t’endugueres tots els meus pensaments,
les meves ambicions i els meus records;
el meu esperit, un cristall vibrant de pensaments, 
aleshores només ressonava per a tu!

Un dia em prengueres tot el meu el cor,
tots els seus batecs, les seves beneïdes llàgrimes,
tu sola omplires aquell cor tot sencer,
els meus amors d'antany en foren bandejats.

Un dia em prengueres la meva ànima immortal,
I te l’endugueres, amb les ales plegades.
L'ànima meva d'amor, doblement immortal,
la meva ànima lligada a la teva per sempre.

Així, ben senzillament, em prengueres un dia:
ànima, cor, pensaments i esguards suprems,
prengueres tot el meu ésser, tot passant, un dia.
