  In lands beyond the sea;
Nor England! did I know till then
  What love I bore to thee.

'Tis past, that melancholy dream!
  Nor will I quit [thy shore]¹ 
A second time, for still I seem
  To love thee more and more.

Among thy mountains did I feel
  The joy of my desire;
And she I cherished turned [her]² wheel
  Beside an English fire.

Thy mornings showed, thy nights concealed,
  The bowers where Lucy played;
And thine [too is]³ the last green field
  That Lucy's eyes surveyed.

oh Anglaterra! Fins llavors no he sabut
   l’amor que tenia per tu.

Ha passat, aquell somni melangiós!
   No et tornaré a deixar
una segona vegada, car em sembla
   d’estimar-te més i més.

Enmig de les teves muntanyes he sentit
   la joia del meu desig
i la noia que jo estimava feia anar la filosa
   al costat d’un foc anglès.

Els teus matins mostraven, les teves nits ocultaven,
   les glorietes on la Lucy jugava;
i teu és també el darrer camp verd
   que els ulls de la Lucy van contemplar.
