Du bist ein Kind und sollst es ewig bleiben; Das echte Weib bleibt ewig Kind, Ein weißes Blatt, auf das die Götter schreiben, Wie köstlich Mild' und Einfalt sind. Ich will dich sanft auf weichen Händen tragen, Wie nur getreue Liebe kann, Und zu dem Schicksal will ich bittend sagen: "O, rühre dieses Kind nicht an!" Voll Andacht will ich liebend dich behüten Und rastlos sorgen früh und spät, Daß nicht des Lebens Strom von deinen Blüten Der Unschuld düft'gen Staub verweht.
