by Heinrich Seidel (1842 - 1906)

Die Amsel
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie tönt [an Frühlingstagen]1
So schwermuthsreich und hold
Der Amsel lautes Schlagen
Ins stille Abendgold.

Es schimmert an den Zweigen
Ein zartverhülltes Grün,
Die junge Säfte steigen,
Und es beginnt zu blühn.

Doch nicht mit Jubeltönen
Begrüsst die Amsel nun
Die Tage, jene schönen,
Die in der Zukunft ruhn.

Es klingt wie Leides Ahnung,
Sie singt im schwarzen Kleid
Schon jetzt die trübe Mahnung:
Wie kurz die schöne Zeit.
