Wenn ich einmal der Sturmwind wär,
Ueber die See, wie wollt’ ich mich legen,
Wühlend die glatte zum Himmel fegen! —
Schäumende Wogen riff’ ich vom Meer,
Riffe sie auf, zurück und nieder,
Schleuderte hoch mit schnaubender Brußt
Sie dumpfgrollend zum Himmel wieder
Keck in der Wolke flatternde Luft —
Bis das pochende Herz ich gesättigt hätte — :
Da liegt und schlaft in dem alten Bette!
