Vöglein, flatterfrohes Seelchen, in den Himmel willst du steigen?
Wer winrd auf der schwanken Leiter dir die kuft’gen Wege zeigen?

Doch schon schwebt du frei in Lüften; um das leichte Herzchen windet
Nicht die Sorge ihre Schlinge, die das Herz des Menschen bindet.

Einen Gruß noch aus der Wolke schickst du tief zur Erde nieder,
O auf dunkler Scholle ahn’ ich nur die jubelhellen Lieder!

Ja wie du entflatternd möcht’ ich dieses Traumneß überfliegen,
Leichtbeschwingt am goldnen Tage lüstefroh das Herz mir wiegen!
