Translation

Bitte um einen seligen Tod
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the German (Deutsch)
Wenn mein Stündlein fürhanden ist,
und soll hinfahr'n mein' Straßen,
so g'leit du mich, Herr Jesu Christ,
mit Hilf mich nicht verlasse;
mein' Seel' an meinem letzten End'
befehl ich dir in deine Händ',
du wollst sie mir bewahren.

Mein' Sünd' mich werden kränken sehr,
mein G'wissen wird mich nagen,
denn ihr'r sind viel' wie Sand am Meer,
doch will ich nicht verzagen;
gedenken will ich an dein' Tod,
Herr Jesu, und dein' Wunden rot,
die werden mich erhalten.

See also So fahr' ich hin zu Jesu Christ, which was included in 1575 as a fifth stanza to the original three-stanza text.
