by Hans Heinrich Ehrler (1872 - 1951)

Barmherzige Schwester
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Strahl, der durch die Gassen geht,
Wo du bist, wird's mild,
Reines Kleid in Kammern weht,
Linder Wortbrunn quillt.

Heilkraut wächst aus weicher Hand,
Schließt die Wunde zu,
Augenschein legt Blutes Brand
In gelöste Ruh.

Schwester allem Menschenleid,
Mutter jedem Schmerz,
Ärmsten Du zur Magd geweiht,
Wer gab Dir Dein Herz?

Nacht hört stillen Perlenfall
Von dem Rosenkranz.
Kranker träumet Sternenschwall
Und MARIENS Glanz.

Confirmed with Hans Heinrich Ehrler, Gesicht und Antlitz: Neue Gedichte, Gotha: Leopold Klotz Verlag, 1928, page 92.
