Wolken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Der Himmel ist schwer,
Er wuchtet wie Blei,
Ist starr wie Stahl,
Und lastet drückend auf dem Feld.

Und auch auf mir
Liegt die schwere Last,
Drücket auch auf mich
Mit eherner Wucht.

Doch der Wolken Schoß
Birgt erlösenden Regen;
Niederströmend bringt er
Erlösung aller Kreatur.

Und auch mir vom Auge
Fließet die Träne,
Bringt mir Lind'rung
Meinen Leiden.

Clouds
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The sky is heavy,
It heaves like molten lead,
It is as rigid as steel
And weighs heavily upon the field.

And upon me as well
The heavy weight lies,
Upon me as well it presses
With iron force.

But the clouds' womb
Harbours redemptive rain;
Pouring down, it brings
Salvation to all creation.

And from my eyes flow
The tears as well,
Bringing me relief
From my suffering.
