Ich soll dich grüßen von dem See, Es fragen seine blauen Wogen: "Wo ist sie hin, die schöne Fee, Die einst so gern mit uns gezogen?" Ich soll dich grüßen von dem Strauch, Der sprach: "Es glänzen meine Beeren So rot wie roter Wangenhauch, Sag' ihr, sie soll doch wiederkehren!" Drauf riefen all' die Vögelein, Ich sollt' auch ihre Grüße bringen: "Dann stellen wir das Wandern ein Und wollen noch vom Sommer singen!" So hab' ich denn in Sonntagsruh' Die Grüße all' dir hingeschrieben - Nimm auch den meinen noch dazu, Du schöne Frau -- die alle lieben!
