So dunkel sind die Straßen, So herbstlich geht der Wind; Leb wohl, meine weiße Rose, Mein Herz, mein Weib, mein Kind! So schweigend steht der Garten, Ich wandre weit hinaus; Er wird dir nicht verraten, Daß ich nimmer kehr nach Haus. Der Weg ist gar so einsam, Es reist ja niemand mit; Die Wolken nur am Himmel Halten gleichen Schritt. Ich bin so müd zum Sterben; Drum blieb' ich gern zu Haus Und schliefe gern das Leben Und Lust und Leiden aus.
