Frühlingsglaube
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
  Sind kahl noch die Hecken,
Sind grün doch die Auen,
Und Vögel sich necken
So fröhlich im Blauen!

  Und fehlt's noch am Regen,
Ist blau doch der Himmel,
Und harrt an den Wegen
Der Knospen Gewimmel!

  Sind rauh noch die Lüfte,
Die Lerchen doch steigen,
Als wehten die Düfte
Schon rings von den Zweigen!

  Dein Harren und Hoffen,
Laß nimmer dir's rauben:
Noch immer steht offen
Der Himmel dem Glauben!

Confirmed with Neue Lieder von Friedrich Oser (1874-1884), Basel: Verlag von M. Bernheim, 1885, page 12-13.

Faith in spring
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Though the hedges still be bare,
The meadows are nevertheless green,
And birds tease each other
So joyfully in the blue!

And though there is yet a dearth of rain,
The sky is nevertheless blue,
And along the pathways
Waits the teeming mass of buds!

Though the breezes are still harsh,
The larks nevertheless ascend
As if scents were already
Wafting from the branches round about!

  Your waiting and hoping,
Let it never be taken from you:
Heaven still stands open
For your faith!
