Quantes branques m’ha trencat el vent,
les cicatrius de les quals són ara la meva cuirassa!
Quantes morts amargues ja he hagut de patir!
Una renaixença era la recompensa de cada mort.
Benvinguda sigues, mort, tu obscura portalada!
