Vacil·lant, el meu cor avança temorós pel camí, ple de basarda dorm el sembrat sota la neu. Quantes branques m’ha trencat el vent, les cicatrius de les quals són ara la meva cuirassa! Quantes morts amargues ja he hagut de patir! Una renaixença era la recompensa de cada mort. Benvinguda sigues, mort, tu obscura portalada! En el més enllà sona clar el cor de la vida.
