Betörende und liebe, leidenschaftliche Augen, wer lässt euch so geizen mit eurem schönen, leuchtenden Strahlen? Wenn ich eure Blicke prüfe, nehme ich nur Blitze und Pfeile wahr: Auch kann ich nicht länger jenes Lächeln sehen, das dein Gesicht so unergründlich machte. Wer hat euch verfinstert, ihr schönen Augen, die mir, klar und rein, wie Sterne erschienen? Wer hat mir die süßen Augen weggelockt? Sag es, Amor, so du’s weißt! Sag es, und sei es, dass es aus Verschmähung oder Eifersucht sei. Nicht länger, so geringschätzig, will ich euch sehen, nicht länger, so überheblich, unter eurem Hochmut leiden. Zu sehen, wiewohl ich euch nicht beleidigt habe, dass ihr euch hitzigen Blicks empört, liebe Augen, ist schmerzliches Unrecht. Entweder ihr lächelt oder ich mache mich aus dem Staub.
