Sturmnacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Heda – Gesell(e),
Bist du erwacht?
Singst du die alten,
Tollen Gesänge
Wieder hinein in die Sommernacht?
Schweige, Sturmwind,
Ach, schweige still -
Laß doch schlafen,
Was schlafen will.
Frühlingsträume
Und Sommerlust
Und die Sehnsucht tief in der Brust!

Wie die armen, alten Linden
Unter deiner Faust sich winden,
Wie die Blumen jäh erschrecken
Und die scheuen Kinderaugen
Unter grünem Gras verstecken!
Alles störst du aus dem Schlummer!
Gier und Kummer,
Noth und Streit
Trägst du in die Heiligkeit
Dieser Nacht mit frevlem Sinn,
Streust die Blätter der Erinnrung
Dreist vor meine Füße hin,
Schmückst mit der verblichnen Krone
Todten Glückes, wie zum Hohne,
Königlich die Bettlerin!
