Saa lagde jeg ud

Saa lagde jeg ud, da Stormen faldt
Og Vinden fik Blund over Øjet.
Det var, som ude fra Dybet blev kaldt,
Og jeg lyttede foroverbøjet.
 
Hult gik Søen, af Tværfurer krus't,
Bølgen var brudt i Stykker;
Hvor Skummet før havde sydet og brust,
Laa Himlen i tavlede Smykker.
 
I hver en Smaadal, bag hver en Høj,
Smiled en tindrende Stjerne;
Og Landvinden løfted sin Vinge og fløj
Vildt mod det lysende Fjerne.

Jeg lytted og spejded fra Baadens Stavn.
Hvert Blink var et Blik, som mig nævned
Med trofast, inderlig Ømhed ved Navn --
Over Havet stille jeg stævned.
