from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Ic draghe in minen herte
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Ic draghe in minen herte verborghen
mijn liden, is also groot;
van den avont tot den morghen,
doorwont ben ic totter doot.

Ic dor des nieman claghen
wes lidet dat herte mijn,
alleine moet ic dat draghen:
och leider, ic vinde gheen troost.

Och blischap sonder minnen
heeft si mi vake ghedaen;
als ic was uit haren oghen,
so was ic al verraen.

Si was in minen oghen
ghelijc die son int wout,
mer achter minen rugghen
als een verdorrent hout.

Haer lose netken can si spreien
so dic ende menichfout;
mit allen winden can si waijen
ghelijc die wederhaen doet.

Ic wildes niet gheloven:
het wert mi vake ghesecht,
hoe dat is al verloren
dat men aen creaturen lecht.

Ic wildes niet gheloven,
ic dede mijn selves raet;
des ben ic nu bedroghen,
och leider, het is te laet.

Dit liedeken is ghesonghen;
och wilt dit wel verstaen;
so nemt daer een exempel,
hoe men dit sal omgaen.
