Und eine liebe Stunde kam gegangen
und schmiegt ihr Haupt sehnsüchtig an mein Knie.
Ich streichle ihre feinen blassen Wangen,
und auf die dunkeln Augen küß' ich sie.
Von bunten Träumen laß ich mich nicht locken,
ich denke nur wie an ein leises Lied.
Von ferne läuten manche Silberglocken,
weil eine liebe Stunde vor mir kniet.

Note: there exist several different versions of the Müller-Hermann song in manuscript. In line 7, word 4 ("manche") is replaced with "zarte" in one manuscript and "helle" in another.
