Aa skoda djupt i det Augnepar
tœk Hjartafreden fraa mang ein Kar
og fyller Bringa med Song og Sull
og spinner Hu gen i Draum og Gull.
Ho vermar upp Hjarto i Bygdi vid,
og heitande vert ho "So li i Lid."
Gutarne sovnar med Inga sit Navn,
og heitt dei ynskjer seg Inga i Favn.

La plus belle fille qui a vécue dans la vallée,
c’est la jeune Inga, d’Øvrelid,
aux yeux aussi bleus que le ciel nocturne
au fond duquel brillent mille étoiles.
Plonger son regard dans ces yeux
ôte la paix du cœur à bien des garçons,
et emplit leurs voix de chansons et de mélodies,
et leurs esprits de rêves d’or.
Elle réchauffe les cœurs de toute la vallée
et on l’appelle « le soleil de Lid ».
Les garçons s’endorment avec le nom d’Inga en tête
et désirent ardemment serrer Inga dans leurs bras.
