Wenn lustig der Frühlingswind
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Wenn lustig der Frühlingswind
Die lichte Welt durchzieht,
Denk' ich an dich!

Wenn jauchzend der Lerche Lied
Zum klaren Himmel dringt,
Denk' ich an dich!

Alles, was schön und froh,
Alles, was licht und gut,
Mahnt mich an dich.

D'rum nicht mit Thränen,
Mit schmachtendem Sehnen,
Bang' ich nach dir!

Ob du mein nimmer denkst,
Ob ich dich nimmer seh,
Du bist mir nah:

Frühlingswind, Lerchensang,
Sonnenschein, Wellenklang,
Alles bist du!

Note: Umlauft's score gives the poet as S.K. (who is a woman since the song is "der Dichterin gewidmet")

When the springtime wind merrily
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
When the springtime wind merrily
Blows through the bright world,
I think of you!

When the song of the lark rejoicingly
Strives upward to the clear heavens,
I think of you!

Everything that is beautiful and happy,
Everything that is bright and good,
Reminds me of you.

Therefore not with tears,
Not with languishing yearning,
Do I miss you!

Though you never think of me,
Though I never see you,
You are near me:

Springtime wind, lark-song,
Sunshine, the sound of the waves,
Everything is you!
