by Friedrich Leopold, Graf zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1750 - 1819)

Sie an ihn
Language: German (Deutsch)
   Auf der Reise
   Herbst 1782

Der Abend sinkt,
Kein Sternlein blinkt,
Am Himmel winkt
Der Mond uns nicht
Mit mildem Licht.

Die Nacht ist kalt,
Der Hohlweg schallt;
Es saust der Wald,
Es rauscht der Bach
Mir Schauer nach.

Ich schließe mich
Gar ängstiglich,
Mein Freund, an dich;
O küsse du
Ins Herz mir Ruh.

So wall' ich gern,
Von allen fern,
Auch ohne Stern;
Wenn nur bei Nacht
Die Liebe wacht.
