Erwachen

Ich schlief wohl eine lange Nacht,
Ich träumte einen bangen Traum;
Jetzt bin ich von dem Schlaf erwacht,
Und daß ich's bin, ich glaub' es kaum.

Mir flog vorüber Jahr auf Jahr,
Ich wurde alt und krank und matt;
Und nun, ich weiß nicht, wie mein Haar
Sich doch so braun erhalten hat.

Der Schlaf liegt in den Gliedern mir,
Es liegt der Traum in meinem Sinn;
Fremd bin ich in der Heimath hier,
Und schwanke meines Weges hin.
