Auf dem Strome
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE
Am Himmel der Wolken
erdunkelnder Kranz ...
Auf schauerndem Strome
metallischer Glanz ...
Die Wälder zu Seiten
so finster und tot ...
Und in flüsterndem Gleiten
vorüber mein Boot ...

Ein Schrei aus der Ferne --
dann still wie zuvor ...
Wie weit sich von Menschen
mein Leben verlor! ...
Eine Welle läuft leise
schon lang nebenher,
sie denkt wohl, ich reise
hinunter zum Meer ...

Ja, ich reise, ich reise,
weiß selbst nicht wohin ...
Immer weiter und weiter
verlockt mich mein Sinn ...
Schon kündet ein Schimmer
vom morgenden Rot, --
und ich treibe noch immer
im flüsternden Boot.

Sur le fleuve
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Au ciel des nuages
à la couronne s'assombrissant ...
Sur le fleuve frissonnant
un éclat métallique ...
Sur le côté, les forêts
si ténébreuses et mortes ...
Et dans un glissement chuchotant
passe mon bateau ...

Un cri au loin --
puis silence comme avant ...
Comme ma vie se perd
loin des hommes ! ...
Une vague court doucement,
depuis longtemps proche,
elle pense bien voyager
en aval vers la mer ...

Oui, je voyage, je voyage,
ne sais pas même où je vais ...
Toujours plus loin et plus loin
incité par mes pensées ...
Déjà une lueur annonce
le rougeoiement du matin --
et je poursuis ma dérive
sur un bateau chuchotant.
