Nel mie proprio valor, senz' altra guida,
Caduta é l'alma che fu giá si degnia. 

Né so qual militar sott' altra insignia,
Non che da vincer, da campar piú fida;
E che al tumulto dell' averse strida
Non pera, ove 'l poter tuo non sostegnia.

O carne, o sangue, o legno, o doglia strema,
Giusto per vo' si facci el mie peccato,
Di ch' i' pur naqqui, e tal fu 'l padre mio.

Tu sol se' buon:  la tuo pietá suprema
Soccorra al mie preditto iniquo stato;
Si presso a morte, e si lontan da Dio.
