Eg fòr vilt i veduskogin
kringum ein elvesteine,
jutuldottri narrad meg,
eg fann inkji vegin heim.

Eg fòr vilt i veduskogin
kringum ein elve-runne,
jutuldottri narrad meg,
eg hev inkji vegen funnid.

Eg hev vorid med jutulen
og jutulen etter meg rann,
gentunn sa', eg lokkad dei,
um eg dei aldri fann.

Eg hev vorid med jutulen
og jutulen etter meg låg,
gentunn sa', eg lokkad dei,
um eg dei aldri såg.

Fiskin uti fagran vatni,
og sildi søkir hav,
mang ein helsar mågin sin
og veit så litid af.

Fiskin uti fagren vatni,
og ikonn up i tre,
alle så heve dei makamann,
men ingin så heve eg.

Eg fòr vilt i veduskogin
kringum ein elvesteine,
jutuldottri narrad meg,
eg fann inkji vegin heim.

Bewitched
Language: English  after the Norwegian (Nynorsk)
I went astray deep in the forest
by a fairy stone,
the giant's daughter deceived me
and I found no way home.

I went astray deep in the forest
by a fairy stone,
the giant's daughter deceived me
and I have found no way home.

I have been with the giant,
and he pursued me,
the maiden said: I enticed you
though you never saw me.

I have been with the giant,
and he hunted me,
the maiden said: I enticed you
though you never discovered me.

The fish in the fair waters
and the herring seek the sea;
Many a man has been forced to
recognise an unexpected son-in-law.

The fish in the fair waters
and the squirrel in the tree,
each one has his mate,
but no such mate have I.

I went astray deep in the forest
by a fairy stone,
the giant's daughter deceived me
and I found no way home.
