by (Karl) Wilhelm Osterwald (1820 - 1887)

Nachtlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
O Nacht, du sternenklare,
  Du wundersüße Nacht,
Bewahre, o bewahre
  Die wundervolle Pracht,
So lange, sie zu schauen,
  Ein Aug' auf Erden ist,
Verscheuche du das Grauen
  Jetzt und zu jeder Frist.

Wie säuselnd durch die Bäume
  Hinfährt ein sanfter Wind,
So streue süße Träume
  Auf jedes Menschenkind,
O Nacht, du Tod im Leben
  Und Leben doch im Tod,
Und laß uns all' erleben
  Ein lichtes Morgenroth.
