by Ida, Baronin von Reinsberg-Düringsfeld (1815 - 1876), as Ida von Düringsfeld

Sie tragen ihn zu Grabe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sie tragen ihn zu Grabe,
Graudunkel wogt das Meer,
Von [seinem grünen Berge]1
Ferne wird schlafen er.

Die verhüllten Trommeln wirbeln
Langsam, gedämpft und schwer,
Mit Trauer-Musik marschiret
Die Banda vor ihm her;

Der Czako und der Säbel,
Sie schmücken ihn nicht mehr,
Am Strand des Meeres, einsam,
Fremdling wird schlafen er.

Sie [kamen]2 vom Begräbniß,
Graudunkel wogt das Meer,
Verscharrt und zugedecket,
Liegt in der Erden er.

Die erhüllten Trommeln wirbeln
Länger nicht dumpf und schwer,
Mit lust'ger Musik marschiret
Die Banda jetzt daher.

Sie, die da leben, wissen
Von ihm, der Todt, nichts mehr,
Am Strand des [Meeres]3, vergessen,
Einsam mag schlafen er.
