Horch! wie über's Wasser hallend,
Klar die Vesperhymne klingt! 
Näher jetzt und näher schallend,
Jubilate, Amen! 
Ferner jetzt und ferner hallend,
Bis sie sanft dem Ohr verklingt,

Jetzt, wie Mondscheinwellen, rollend 
An das Ufer, stirbt sie hin;
