Wenn hell die Vöglein singen; 
Dann wird ein frohes Lied dir bald 
Auch durch die Seele klingen: 
Es wird das Lied den Frühling dir 
Verkünden  --  ja, verkünden! 
Vom Frühroth wird das Herze schier
In Liebe sich verzünden! 
Wer weiß, was da noch kommen mag! 
Ei, guten Morgen, guten Tag! 

Und jedes Blatt und jeder Halm 
Wiegt sich in Freudenzähren; 
Die Bäume rauschen einen Psalm, 
Als ob voll Dank sie wären! 
Und alle Wipfel neigen sich 
Entgegen,  --  ja, entgegen! 
Als grüßten sie sich feierlich, 
Gerührt vom Himmelssegen! 
Wer weiß, was da noch kommen mag! 
Ei, guten Morgen, guten Tag!  

Die Wölklein ziehn wie leichter Sinn 
Wohl in die Ferne weiter; 
Und in dem trübsten Herzen drin 
Wird alles froh und heiter: 
Drum wiß', es kann die frühe Stund' 
Nur frommen,  --  ja, frommen! 
Denn ein Geheimniß thut sich kund, 
Die Liebe ruft willkommen! 
Wer weiß, was da noch kommen mag! 
Ei, guten Morgen, guten Tag!
