Tant savoureuse était la pomme, 
Tant heureuse elle me faisait 
Que t’en donnai, croyant te plaire.
Finie à présent douce vie ! 
Il nous faut gagner notre pain. 
à la sueur de nos visages. 
A grand ahan il faut bêcher 
la terre où nous serons demain. 
En Dieu, mettez votre espérance. 
Votre douleur sera guérie 
Par un Sauveur né d’une Vierge.

L’Hôtelier:
Qui va la ? 

Saint Joseph:
Nazareth est notre pays. 
Je m’appelle Joseph. 
Et voici ma femme Marie. 

L’Hôtelier:
Au large ! 

Saint Joseph:
Mon bon ami, prenez la peine de descendre. 
Et m’écoutez.

L’Hôtelier:
Je ne veux pas de baladins en ma maison. 

Saint Joseph:
En votre écurie, s’il vous plaît... 

L’Hôtelier:
Pour y mettre le feu. Merci ! 

Saint Joseph:
Ma femme est dans les douleurs. 
Elle attend le petit enfant.

L’Hôtelier:
Qu’elle aille pondre en l’auberge de la lune 
au carrefour des quatre vents. 
Chez moi, on ne reçoit que des gens bien. 

Saint Joseph:
Je paierai. 

L’Hôtelier:
Ouste ! ou je lâche le chien. 

Saint François:
En notre cœur, douce Pucelle, 
Daignez descendre et vous chauffer.
