3. Le Cortège d'Amphitrite  [sung text not yet checked]

Le cortège léger glisse aux plaines liquides
Une rose lueur teinte le flot changeant
C'est la jeune Amphitrite, en sa conque d'argent,
Qui passe sur la mer avec ses Néréides.

L'archipel a surgi vers les lointains limpides;
Les Tritons font sonner leurs trompes en nageant,
Et de leurs bras la nymphe en vain se dégageant
Sent ses beaux seins piqués par leurs barbes squalides.

Les vagues doucemont ondulent, l'air est pur;
Amphitrite sourit, toute nue, à l'azur,
Et la brise ramène en avant ses cheveux,
Pendant que les dauphins de leurs mufles hideux,
Font jaillir l'eau marine en gerbes devant elle.
