Drei Lieder nach ungedruckten Gedichten von Hermann Hesse

Song Cycle by Hermann Unger (1886 - 1958)

1. Ausflug im Herbst  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Nach Abend wendet
Herbstsonne den Lauf,
Metallen blendet
Der See herauf.

Gipfel im weißen,
Eisigen Glast;
Bergwinde reißen
Das Laub vom Ast.

Die Augen versagen
Vor Wind und Licht,
Aus fernen Tagen
Erinnerung spricht.

  Die Wanderfreuden
Der Jugendzeit
Herüberläuten
Von weit, von weit . . .

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Ausflug im Herbst", written 1934

2. Einsamkeit
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Weg ist schwer, der Weg ist weit,
Doch kann ich nicht zurück;
Wer einmal dein ist, Einsamkeit,
Dem bist du Tod und Glück.

Die Sehnsucht brennt; von drunten her
Ruft mütterlich die Welt;
Wie ist ihr Ruf von Liebe schwer,
Wie rot von Lust erhellt.

Doch wer den ersten Becher trank
Vom Wasser Einsamkeit,
Dem singt kein Vogel mehr zum Dank,
Der geht nicht mehr zu zweit.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Einsamkeit", subtitle: "(1918)", written 1918

3. Die Schmerzen
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Arme Schwestern, liebe Schwestern,
Seid ihr nicht auch Gottesgaben?
Aber keiner will euch haben.
Wohnet denn in meinem Herzen!

Alle Lust der Welt zu haschen,
Bin ich gierig ausgezogen,
Kam geplündert, kam betrogen,
Müde heim mit leeren Taschen.

Die ich einst so sehr verachtet,
Liebe Schmerzen, seid gesegnet,
Die ihr mir so reich begegnet,
Mich so innig nun umnachtet!

Heiß durchflutet euer Glühen
Meines Blutes dunkle Wogen,
Die, von euch emporgezogen,
Tiefer atmen, schöner blühen.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Liebe Schmerzen", written 1927, first published 1927
