Yo corté tu flor, ¡oh mundo!
La apreté contra mi corazón y la espina me hirió.
Cuando el día decayendo y se oscurecía,
Me di cuenta que la flor se había desvanecido,
Pero que el dolor aun permanecía.

Más flores vendría a ti 
con perfume y orgullo, ¡oh mundo!
Más mi tiempo de recolecta de flores ha terminado,
Y a través de la oscura noche no tengo, no tengo mi rosa.
Solo me queda el dolor.

Me la puse alrededor del cuello
Y las lágrimas asomaron a mis ojos.

Besé a la niña y le dije:
"Eres ciega, tanto como lo son las flores.

Tu misma no sabes cuan bello es tu regalo."
