Sie blüht und glüht und leuchtet
Und starret stumm in die Höh';

La flor de loto se asusta
del resplandor del sol
y con la cabeza inclinada
espera soñando la noche.

La luna, que es su amado,
le despierta con su luz
y descubre amigablemente
su amable rostro de flor.

Ella florece, brilla y arde
y permanece muda creciendo,
difunde su olor, llora y tiembla
de amor y nostalgia de amor.

Translator's note: Una curiosidad del alemán es que la luna tiene género masculino, por lo que sus imágenes poéticas son muy distintas que en castellano. Para “compensar”, el sol es.. ¡femenino!
