Von allen Türmen hallt der [Glocken]1 Ton, 
Ave Maria! Laßt vom ird'schen Tun,
Zur Jungfrau betet, zu der Jungfrau Sohn,
Des Himmels Scharen selber knieen nun
Mit Lilienstäben vor des Vaters Thron,
Und durch die Rosenwolken wehn die Lieder
Der sel'gen Geister feierlich hernieder.

O heil'ge Andacht, welche jedes Herz
Mit leisen Schauern wunderbar durchdringt!
O [sel'ger]2 Glaube, der sich himmelwärts
Auf des Gebetes weißem Fittig schwingt!
In milde Tränen [löst sich da]3 der Schmerz,
Indes der Freude Jubel sanfter klingt.
[ Ave Maria! Wenn die Glocke tönet,
So lächeln Erd' und Himmel mild versöhnet.]4

Ave Maria! Mare e Cielo riposano,
da tutte le torri echeggia il suono delle campane.
Ave Maria! Lasciate le occupazioni di questo mondo,
pregate la Vergine, pregate il Figlio della Vergine.
Le stesse schiere celesti adesso si inginocchiano
con steli di giglio davanti al trono del Padre,
e attraverso le nubi rosate spirano i canti
degli spiriti beati verso la Terra.

O sacro raccoglimento, che ogni cuore
meravigliosamente pervade con fremiti leggeri!
O beata Fede, che verso il Cielo fluttua
sulla bianca ala della preghiera!
In dolci lacrime si scioglie dunque il dolore,
allorché il giubilo si fa più delicato.
Ave Maria! Quando la campana risuona,
sorridono Cielo e Terra, dolcemente riconciliati.
