Die hat einen andern erwählt;
Der andre liebt eine andre,
Und hat sich mit dieser vermählt.

Das Mädchen [heiratet]2 aus Ärger
Den ersten besten Mann,
Der ihr in den Weg gelaufen;
Der Jüngling ist übel dran.

Es ist eine alte Geschichte,
Doch bleibt sie immer neu;
Und wem sie [just]3 passieret,
Dem bricht das Herz entzwei.

Un chico ama a una chica
que ha elegido a otro.
El otro ama a otra,
y se casa con ésta.

La chica se casa por despecho
con el primero que
se le cruza en el camino:
el chico está de malas.

Es una vieja historia,
pero sigue siendo nueva,
y justo al que le ocurre
se le parte el corazón.
