Ik kwam mijn liefjes huis voorbij,
Het vensterglas, dat blonk er;
Ik keek mij haast de ogen uit,
Maar alles bleef er donker.
 
Weg tranen, blijf mij uit het oog,
Maak er geen doffe bende!
Mijn kranke1 hart, ach, breek toch niet
Van al teveel ellende!
