Leuchtet und strahlt meine Liebe.

Du kleines, junges Mädchen,
Komm an mein großes Herz;

Vergehn vor lauter Liebe.

An die blaue Himmelsdecke,
Wo die schönen Sterne blinken,
Möcht' ich pressen meine Lippen,
Pressen wild und stürmisch weinen.

Jene Sterne sind die Augen
Meiner Liebsten; tausendfältig
Schimmern sie und grüßen freundlich
Aus der blauen Himmelsdecke.

Nach der blauen Himmelsdecke,
Nach den Augen der Geliebten,
Heb' ich andachtsvoll die Arme,
Und ich bitte und ich flehe:

Holde Augen, Gnadenlichter,
O beseligt meine Seele,
Laßt mich sterben und erwerben
Euch und euren ganzen Himmel!

Sur la voute bleue du ciel.

Vers la voute bleue du ciel,
Vers les yeux de ma bien-aimée
Je lève le bras avec recueillement,
Et je demande et implore :

» Adorables yeux, lumière clémente,
Ô comblez mon âme,
Laissez-moi mourir et vous conquérir,
Vous et tout votre ciel ! «
