Die Fensterscheiben blinken;
Ich [guck']3 mir fast die Augen aus,
Doch [will mir niemand]4 winken.

Ihr Tränen, bleibt mir aus dem Aug',
Daß ich nicht dunkel sehe.

Jo estava dret, recolzat al pal de la nau
i comptava cada onada.
Adéu! Formosa pàtria meva!
El meu vaixell, que de pressa navega!

Vaig passar davant la casa de la meva bella estimada,
els vidres de la finestra resplendien,
vaig mirar sent gairebé tot ulls,
però ningú em féu senyals.

Vosaltres, llàgrimes, no em pugeu als ulls,
perquè no s’ofusqui el meu esguard.
Cor malalt, no se’m parteixis
d’aquesta desmesurada pena.
