Italian (Italiano) translations of Vier Lieder, opus 19

by Margie Bennett

1. Auf Flügeln des Gesanges  [sung text not yet checked]
by Margie Bennett , "Auf Flügeln des Gesanges", op. 19 (Vier Lieder) no. 2, published 1902
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf Flügeln des Gesanges,
Herzliebchen, trag ich dich fort,
Fort nach den Fluren des Ganges,
Dort weiß ich den schönsten Ort;

Dort liegt ein [rotblühender]1 Garten
Im stillen Mondenschein,
Die Lotosblumen erwarten
Ihr trautes Schwesterlein.

Die Veilchen kichern und kosen,
Und schaun nach den Sternen empor,
Heimlich erzählen die Rosen
Sich duftende Märchen ins Ohr.

Es hüpfen herbei und lauschen
Die frommen, klugen Gazelln,
Und in der Ferne rauschen
Des [heiligen]2 Stromes Well'n.

Dort wollen wir niedersinken
Unter dem Palmenbaum,
Und Liebe und Ruhe trinken,
Und träumen seligen Traum.

1. Sulle ali del canto
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Sulle ali del canto,
amore, ti porto via,
via verso i prati del Gange,
dove conosco il posto più bello.

Là c'è un giardino fiorito di rosso
nel tacito chiaro di luna,
i fiori di loto aspettano
la loro fedele sorella.

Le violette sorridono e amoreggiano,
e guardano in su, verso le stelle,
in segreto narrano le rose
fiabe profumate.

Qui saltellano e corrono
le sagge, brave gazzelle,
e là lontano scorrono
le acque del fiume sacro.

Là vogliamo distenderci
sotto la palma,
e gustare amore e pace,
e sognare sogni beati.
